Student Bursary Program

Introduction


This scholarship offers annual subsidies totaling $5,000 toward costs incurred through enrollment in bona-fide educational programs at the post-secondary level. Recognized programs include those offered by a university, community college or technical school in Canada but do not include the curricula offered by commercial institutions.


Eligibility


Applicants must occupy an Armour MOSID.Officer applicants must be held on the active strength of a Regiment of the Corps or theArmourSchool, or be a life member of the RCAC Association.All Other Ranks are eligible, regardless of their place of employment. Evidence of enrollment in a qualified post-secondary educational institution must be provided.

Individuals who have received a bursary are eligible to re-apply in subsequent years, provided they have achieved a passing grade in the program for which the award was previously given.

Years and type of service and major accomplishments


·Academic Standing(20 %)


Submit most recent transcripts and major academic accomplishments

Usefulness of the current program in achieving long-term career goals


·Community Service(15 %)


Community service outside the military environment


·Financial Need(20 %)


Sources of other income and program costs.


Application


An application proforma is to be completed and forwarded by ordinary mail with necessary enclosures by so as to reach the association not later than 30 September in any year.

Selection Panel


Applications will be considered at a meeting held in conjunction with the association’s annual general meeting each January. A panel comprised of the association Officers and the president of the Armoured Branch Trust will deliberate to select from among the applicants the three most deserving candidates in order of priority. These individuals will receive bursaries of
$2,500 (1stplace), $1,500 (2ndplace) and $1,000 (3rdplace).


All or a portion of these bursaries need not necessarily be awarded in any year, at the sole discretion of the selection panel.


Competition Results


Each applicant will be informed of the selection panel’s decision and their relative standing. The winners will receive their cheques from their unit commanding officer in behalf of the RCAC Association and the Armoured Branch Trust.
